I'm just a "little" bit in love with Disneyland right now, especially with their foods. If you're ever in Disneyland, you must try their Mint Julep drink at the Mint Julep Bar in New Orleans Square. It's a (non-alcoholic) minty, limey and refreshing drink that has become my new guilty pleasure. It's one of the things on my list of treats that I have to get whenever we visit the park. (I 'll have to share that list with you one day.) I made a homemade version and now I can have a Mint Julep whenever I'm missing Disneyland. You can too!
Homemade Disneyland Mint Julep
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
20 mint leaves
6 teaspoons lime juice
4 teaspoons lemon juice
3 drops of green food coloring
3 cups of cold water
splash of soda water
Directions
For mint syrup:
Combine 1 cup of sugar & 1 cup water in a small sauce pan and heat until the sugar completely dissolves. Remove for heat and add mint leaves. Allow syrup to cool completely before storing it in a glass jar. Cover and let sit in the fridge over night. Remove the mint leaves before using your syrup.
For Mint Julep Mix:
1. In a large pitcher, add your mint syrup, lime juice, lemon juice, food coloring and 3 cups of cold water. Mix well.
2. Fill a tall glass with ice then add the mint julep mix, top with soda water and garnish with two maraschino cherries, a lemon, & sprig of mint. Adults: spike it with bourbon, just as delicious.
